After the festivities this weekend, Shmoo's actual birthday (today) may seem anticlimactic. I'm certainly happy to put the electric mixer away for a few weeks. (Not to come out again until Christmas cookie time.)
We started the day retelling his birth story and frantically finishing a bio-timeline for his class. With an interpreter dad and a publishing professional mom, he'll have to resign himself to our inability to slap only a few photos and captions onto the page.
We brought cupcakes in for his class and Roo and I stayed for the class's traditional birthday ceremony. Shmoo, carrying a globe, symbolically circled the sun six times at the start of class. (I tried to video it, but had technical difficulties. But it was a touching ritual.) I'm also having difficulty posting vertical-format photos on my blog without them rotating sideways. So you can view a snap from class on flickr. Tonight I have a school governing council meeting, so I won't be with him at the actual time of his birth (9:35 p.m.).
I think age six is going to have all kinds of great things in store for Shmoo.

Peanut has a life timeline project underway as well. If he complains about the level of detail we're encouraging, I'm sending him straight here. That is fantastic.
Happy Birthday to Shmoo. His musical tastes rock.
