You know you're getting close to your due date when you start to notice that it coincides with dairy expiration dates in the supermarket. So it's time for you to guess Polly's birth date and size. Here is some information to
(possibly) help you decide:
My official due date
from the medical establishment (LMP) is September 27, but early ultrasounds
indicated due dates of October 4 or 7. Basically, anything between September 15
and October 15 could be considered normal.
Shmooie was born
November 8 at 9:40 pm, which was 3 days after his due date. With him, I
gained a total of about 40 pounds. He was 9 lb, 5 oz and 20.5 inches at birth.
(I love the labor & delivery nurse’s quote: “He has Saint Bernard
paws!”) My labor was about 10 hours and pushing was about 30 minutes.
This time I gained
about 33 pounds but then have lost about 3 in the last week or two. I don't know how that happened; girl child is very hungry these days (I have to get
up to eat in the middle of the night or I can’t sleep). I wouldn’t doubt it
if I pack on a few more pounds in the coming
weeks.
HPR thinks the
new kid will arrive Sept. 30 and will be 8 lb 14 oz. I have no idea, but I’m leaning more toward the
October dates. Maybe October 8? And I'll say 9 lbs even.
Comment with your guesses. Since I'm making the rules I'll say that it’s OK if folks duplicate. Will there be a prize? That's a very good question. I'll do a subsequent post where I'll log in everyone's guesses. Oh! And the hospital has wi-fi. I told HPR we have to bring the laptop to the hospital. He thinks I'm crazy.
Apologies to Isoglossia for ripping off his post title (from back in December). Image from here.
I brought my laptop to the hospital! It was nice to feel connected. And to have something to do while I was waiting for Things to Happen.

1) Oh, obviously you have to bring the laptop. OBVIOUSLY.
2) I'm entranced by the photo of...what? Handmade wrapping paper, yes? Made from...giant calendar pages?
3) Okay, I guess September 28th, 8 pounds 6 ounces.

I guess Oct 4 because it is my anniv and I think only wonderful things happen that day. I'll say 8lbs 9oz. If I win, I want to hold the baby before Dave, he's a baby hog.

I'll take October 1, weighing in at 9 pounds 2 ounces.
I also think the winner should get to name the baby. Scheherazade is on your list, right?

I'm guessing October 2nd. Why? Because that's my birthday! Weighing a slim 8 pounds 14 ounces.

October 3, 8 lbs, 7 oz.
Healthy beautiful cover girl

I'm going with October 1, 8 lbs. 8 oz.

We're guessing Oct 3rd (that way bubbie and baby can share birthdays together!) 8lbs 1oz
I'm just so excited for another cutie in the family!!

Oh I have to guess 9/27 because it's my Mom's birthday. She's my favorite Libra, and I love me some Libras. :)
And I think 8 lbs, 10 oz.

10/8
8,10

I am terrible at this stuff. But, I'll throw in my two cents for the giggles of it.
October 8 (my grandpa's birthday). 8 pounds, 1 ounce (Emily's birthweight), 20 inches (Lucy's birth length).
Can't wait to see pictures!!

Put me down for Oct 8, 8 lb, because our generation is partial to the 8th.
P.S. I'm SO glad Loki is home, altho I'm with Smooie that another cat is (almost) always a good idea.

Dude, bring the laptop. I actually had TIME to log in to things while I was there, unlike when I got home and there were two of them. Kids, I mean.
For your sake I hope she arrives promptly on the 26th (my birthday, but not *too* early), weighing a respectable, oh, 8 lbs, and requiring very little pushing.
I'm so freaking psyched for you.

October 10th is my guess, but only because I am never right and I want you to go sooner than this.

I'll help a sistah out with early and small. 9/25 and 7 lbs. 9 oz. Can't wait!

Enjoy the luxury of having only one child for the few remaining days. Then enjoy the tiny one for the first several months. The real mayhem won't start until she begins crawling and you've suddenly got two of them to keep track of.
9th of October, eight pounds even.
Wifi in the hossable? You're live-blogging this delivery, sister!
