My big surprise upon opening the door this morning: Loki meowing his head off, coming in right away, meowing all over the main floor of the house, checking out his food dish, meowing at me. He was gone exactly one week. My best guess is he was trapped in the garage of someone who went on a week's vacation. He looks a bit thinner (he had reserves), but otherwise completely healthy. Shmoo took it all in and asked me over and over "Are you happy? Are you happy?" Yes, honey, I'm so happy. So now I can take down the posters:
Cool! We lost our cat for a week once, too. Best we can figure, he got disoriented by the smoke from a nearby forest fire and lost his sense of direction. We put an ad in the paper, and somebody called us to say, "I think we have your cat." Their house looked just like ours, but it was about a mile away. I think Muffler knew it was the wrong house, but he was probably tired of looking for the right one. :-)

Awww, great news!
My current cat rarely moves at all, but in her day she took two different week-long leaves of absence.
Granted, it was in conjunction with a move, but still.

You forgot the part about calling me in Denver at 5:00am. My immediate reaction upon hearing the phone: "Yikes! The baby's coming! Get me on the next flight back!"
Good news all around.
